Question about possible sort-of quasifest?

So I have a little bit of a question.  I have an Editing and Publishing class, and for the class, I decided to make a website with literary articles on fan fiction.  An awesome idea since I figured fan fiction just isn't written about enough, but the amount of articles I wanted to put up won't be possible (since I can't write that fast).  Though I plan to maintain the site after the class is over, I don't think the teacher will be satisfied with just a "sorry, I'll finish it later".

Since the project is mostly about publishing rather than getting my own work out, I was wandering if I could set up a fest, exept instead of fan fiction, people would be writing about fan fiction.  For example, you could write about common  memes that pop up, explore the fan fiction of yesteryear, the queer theory of slash, etc.

The other thing is that the articles would have to be beta'd and referenced (links to quoted fanfic, and stuff like that).

Do you guys think that people would want to rant and rave intelligently about their favorite passion of fan fiction?  Do you think other people would help mod, or that there would be even any responses?

Sounds like a great idea... but then again, I am a bit of a nerd.

Thanks! I was worried that people would think I was weird. If you want to join, I started the community for it. http://community.livejournal.com/fanfic_litcrit/profile

Oddly enough, I did a Fanfiction Guide awhile go ~ mind you, it's still being built on, but I can contribute from there if you need it :)

Yeah, that cracked article is what got me hooked on cracked.com. It's so funny! I don't think I've read the fan fiction history article, but it's not just a plain history thing but a literary/art discussion. Thinks like, does slash fan fiction actually perpetuate anti-feminist leanings? Stuff like that. Can I read your Fanfiction Guide? Linkage pleazies? *puppy eyes*

I'd love if you contribute, but I'd prefer new articles. Since I'm setting this up as a fest, I want it to be fresh for everyone, not just for my own selfish reasons. Maybe, though, I could link your site to mine? I'd love to do that.

Check out the comm for the fest thingie...it's here.

Link Behold! http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5048712/1/Fanfiction_Explained_Version_2

Just thought it might be of some interest :P

And I'd love to contribute new articles and such to your community <3 I actually have a theory in the works that I'd like to write about, but I would also like to see an example of what format you want posts and what sort of content and so forth :3

If it's a theory you have, probably will be good. The point was just sort of to make people think about fan fiction in a scholarly type of way. :)

I'd love to hear from you, though:).

I've been wanting to do something of the like, because fan fiction is hardly considered serious, you know? But utterly fascinating...

I know, right? I looked around, and it seems that there's not a ton of this kind of writing about fan fiction-it's practically ignored. And who better than those that read it to write about it?

I'll have to pass this on to a friend - if anything, she would absolutely love it, because she ranted and raved over a Bleach essay she once read. Well, technically a fandom essay discussing the Ichigo/Orihime pairing, but she loved that someone wrote it :)

Sure. Post it on your journal and let people know! The more the merrier!
